Leadership

Pastors & Staff

Frank L. Figueroa Jr.

Lead Pastor

Frank has been our lead pastor since the summer of 2007 and has shepherded God's flock with care and diligence.  He has been married for over 20 years to his bride, April, who is a first grade teacher at a local Christian School.  He adheres to the authority of God's Word and teaches systematically and expositionally through the Bible.  He is also a speaker for Reasons For Hope due to his enthusiasm, boldness, and commitment to Christian apologetics.

Dave Heldt

Associate Pastor

After graduating from Grace College in Winona Lake, Indiana, Dave and his wife Tia moved back to Hawaii where she was born and raised.  They both stared working as public high school teachers in 2001, however Tia left teaching when they had the first of their seven children in 2004.  Dave still currently works full time as a high school teacher.  At Waipio GBC, Dave serves as our youth pastor and as an elder, and he is also on the deacon board.  He also enjoys the beauty of God’s creation in the mountains and the oceans of Hawaii with his family.

Steven Butler

Elder

Steve's wife Elizabeth and he have 5 children and 6 grandkids.  He is a Deacon and Elder, and a member of our praise & worship team.  He volunteers as a Centershot Hawaii Archery Instructor and is a National Rifle Association of America (NRA) Instructor in his private life.  He also is an active member of the Hawaii Awana Ministry Team and is the Activities Director for the Hawaii Merit Camp.  With all these titles and hats, Steve would just rather be known as a believer that knows, loves, and serves our Lord Jesus Christ.

Tia Heldt

Children's Ministry Leader

Tia Heldt was born and raised in central Oahu, where she lives now with her husband, Dave and their seven children.  She attended Grace College in Winona Lake In, where she Majored in Art Education.  Shortly after graduating and getting married, Tia and Dave moved to Oahu and started their teaching careers on the west side of the island.  Tia and Dave always volunteered and were involved in Children's Ministry.  In 2007 they both felt called to serve in leadership roles and assumed greater responsibilities in Children's Ministry.  Their prayer is to strengthen the faith of families through children’s, youth and family ministries.
